Who We Are
Founded in 2016 by sisters Maya and Ella Rawitch, School CAFE (Culinary Action for Education) is now a youth-led superintendent’s committee consisting of interested students, parents, board trustees and school employees. The fiscal sponsor for the committee is the Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center.
I am a high school student who is passionate about healthy food that everyone can enjoy. I am also passionate about creating positive change regarding school food.
Currently an eighth grader at Sisson School. I love learning about the benefits of healthy food. I have loved helping to bring a kitchen to Mount Shasta, to bring great food to all students.
Wayne is a lifelong gardener, fresh food advocate, retired nursery owner, climate worrier, returned Peace Corps volunteer.
A visionary artist, writer and educator, who has been helping her granddaughters fulfill their vision of healthy, tasty and organic food in the school system and of creating a vast network of educational outreach into the local community of farmers, businesses and organizations. www.marysaintmarie.com
Grew up in Berkeley, CA and was inspired by the school lunches from Alice Waters’ Edible Schoolyard. I’m earnestly committed to helping kids get real food that nourishes their bodies, minds and spirits.
I am passionate about nutrition and healthy, organic, whole food and the difference it makes in the lives of people, families, animals, and the environment. I love helping to support the School CAFE in any way I am able and I am also our website builder.
